If you have a client facing a criminal charge and it is not something your firm wants to handle, Ironside Criminal Defense can handle the case. Our firm is based in Greenville and takes referrals from attorneys across South Carolina and beyond. We are former state and federal prosecutors who have practiced together at every stage of our careers. In the first conversation we tell you whether the case is a fit for our team, make a plan for how to achieve the best result possible, and tell you and your client what to expect next.
Ironside Criminal Defense takes criminal matters at every level, from magistrate court to a federal indictment. Our referral arrangement works the same way regardless of the size of the file; we never treat a smaller case as less important than a larger one. These are some of the cases we can take on:

Referring your client to another lawyer carries real weight, and we treat it that way. Who handles the file, what the first conversation gives your client, and what happens afterward all matter:
Let's Get StartedCriminal defense is usually a one-lawyer practice. Sloan Ellis and Brandi Hinton were federal and state prosecutors before they became defense attorneys, and they work every file together rather than dividing them.
Our consultation is free. If we are not the right fit for the matter, your client is told that directly.
We handle the criminal matter and nothing else. We do not pursue your client's other legal work and keep you informed as the criminal case moves forward.
We have two arrangements available, and you choose which one fits the case: 1. Referrals: Ironside Criminal Defense enters as counsel of record and takes the matter from there. You are kept current on where it stands without carrying any of the work. 2. Co-Counsel: You keep a role in the case, with the division of work agreed before anything is filed. This is common where the criminal matter sits alongside a civil case you are already handling.

Some referrals are very straightforward, and some start as a question about whether a case is worth referring at all. Tell us what the charge is and where it stands, and you will get a straight read on what the client is facing and what we would do with it. Call 864-775-5775 or reach out through our contact page. One of our managing attorneys will get back to you.
What comes next depends on how you move forward from it. Tell us what happened, and we will tell you what you are facing. Our consultations are free, and with an attorney.
